You won't find a more extensive and quality playlist from a video game than EA's FIFA. Last year we broke out a list with 50 songs from 26 countries. This year's list doesn't match last year in numbers but with 42 tracks from 21 countries, FIFA 09 surely hasn't slacked off.

Along with some wonderful and peppy tunes, this game has some vivid graphics that makes for a wonderful playing experience. FIFA 09 will be available in stores October 2008.

Below we have the track listings as well as a few MP3s. Unfortunately, not all songs were available on iTunes when this was posted, so keep your eyes open for an iMix eventually. Enjoy.

(6.8/10) I never thought I would find one of my favorite songs of the year this week...

As I've been catching up on the slew of albums released this summer, Earlimart have been lingering in my ears since last year's Mentor Tormentor, which we placed "Nevermind The Phonecalls" at #49 in our top songs of last year. But this time its just the two you see above and since over time, the group has diminished to only vocalist Aaron Espinoza and his sidekick Ariana Murray (bassist/keyboardist/singer). Its hard to imagine now, that even Brian Aubert was once a part of the band named after a two-mile wide area.

The band has since been developing and blooming into something magnificent. I didn't get chills from Earlimart's Mentor Tormentor in 2007 and I didn't get any for Hymn & Her, but the album is sure-fire for what its worth. The production in the album is better, the craftmanship of each song lingers like that of their days of old, yet somehow each song takes a turn when you least expect it. Before I knew it, I could help but admit that I really enjoyed this album.

Aside from the composition of the album and the flow and entrancement it gets me into, like that of their inspiration, Elliott Smith, I found a few gems on this album, most particularly "Face Down In The Right Town". The song itself is a different direction that I normally fall into, but its near impossible to get caught up in the whispered "Doo-do's" of Espinoza's unmistakable voice.

All else aside, its a cool, summer song with an upbeat facade - rare for Earlimart. With Hymn & Her, its now noticable that the two remaining members of the band provided the biggest assets to Earlimart's success. With all other members cast off on this album, they created an album that is lush and palatable, yet even more lovable for their devoted followers.

If you've noticed over the course of the last month, our feed has been making us look pretty bad, when actually - we're awesome (we think so anyway). Although our feed has fallen behind, showing updates five to six days behind, we can assure you, we've still been on top of the writing side of things. The cause of this mess was the switch of our blog address to our domain name (which happened last month).

So if you're confused about all of this and don't know which site address to visit, you can still go to either our domain (http://musicunderfire.com/) or our old google address (http://musicunderfire.blogspot.com/). It doesn't matter which - both will drop you into the same spot. Or you can forget we mentioned this and just know that our new feed is now fully functional once again!

You can either update our feed by just clicking on the image above or over on our sidebar once again, or just add this feed url to your RSS reader.

Thank you for being the loyal, lovable readers you are!

This week's folk artists have dominated the listings below, and really, they have captured many a heart with their works as well. Despite having a smaller amount of content for this week, Mogwai and of Montreal also have a few treats in store.

Emiliana Torrini's Me and Armini album should add some flair as her seemingly funk-inspired breakouts lie quietly behind the harmony she has created. Also, Portland's Horse Feathers bring a catchy touch due to the unique vocal span of songer Justin Ringle. Along with these two artists, the unfailing work of Catie Curtis and Joan Baez could add a more down-tempo appeal.

More on the indie rock side, The New Year and a couple of smaller works by of Montreal and Mogwai lifted our eyebrows. The New Year was started back in 1999 by brothers Matt and Bubba Kadane, who previously masterminded Bedhead. Since then, they added on a slew of talented friends and have continued to improve their sound. Their newest album is the self titled, The New Year. The track below is from their 2004 release of The End Is Near.

So the list this week had a ton of artists and we only did a few writeups and posted just a couple of mp3s, so if there is someone you didn't hear us mention, please leave a comment. Enjoy.

Dredg posted their 8th "Leaflet" on their YouTube page giving a sneak peak at some of their studio work for their upcoming album. You can subscribe to their channel here if you'd like more video updates as to what the band has coming.

It seems their success from their album Catch Without Arms is still living on and the band continues to tour and tour without yielding a new release just yet. After finishing up their tour overseas in Switzerland, they begin yet another one throughout the US, which wraps up at the end of November, can we finally expect to hear some new material?
