Its unfair that we don't post about more women vocalists. I couldn't tell you the reason, why, we just always get tangled up in that UK rock we love so much. This brings a perfect opportunity to share wtih you, Saint Bernadette. Had you been implying this group is religious, or even just based about one woman, you're wrong on both accounts. St. Bernadette is two that makes this dramatic pair, but in the end Meredith DiMenna provides the vocals and Keith Saunders does just about everything else.
What drew me the most to this group is the emotional twists and despair rising and falling with each chorus. Saint Bernadette's I Wanna Tell You Something is their most recent EP, featuring one song I've really been digging, "Love Is A Stranger". Whether its the chorus singing along as DiMenna sings "Love Is A Stranger" or the duality as each verse is whispered in unison (like the picture above).
St. Bernadette is a more serious attempt as compared to their first LP, In The Ballroom, and draws the likenesses from 40's jazz melodies, solid rock guitar, and an orchestrated brass section in a few songs. There's really nothing like it out there right now.
