Steve Smith, the Dirty Vegas mastermind is trying something new... sort of. With plenty of experience in the DJ scene, and influences ranging from DJ Tiesto to David Bowie, Smith finally gave a solo record a go, under his own label, of course (G.A.S. Records). With his percussion, guitar and productions skills tweaked, This Town is finally ready to come to yours.
Smith's style is still that of the electronica sort, but songs such as "Comedown Queen" exhibit a pleasant folk approach to his music. This Town truly shows Smith can go in which ever direction he would like as far as creativity goes. The album varies heavily from simple melodies to complex electo-ensembles, which could be the influence from one of many, including producer Anthony Saffery (Cornershop, the X-ecutioners), Claudia Gonson (The Magnetic Fields), Terry Barber (New York Symphony Orchestra), Jay Ungar (James Horner Orchestra), and Rob Swift (The X-ecutioners, Quincy Jones).
