With a mixture of a vocal range like that of Jimmy Pop of the Bloodhound Gang and a music style similar to The Whitest Boy Alive, Director immediately popped out at me this past month. Based in Dublin Ireland, Director is composed of Michael Moloney (Vocals, Guitars, Keys), Eoin Aherne (Guitars, Backing Vocals), Shay Lawlor (Drums) and Rowan Averill (Bass).
With their latest release We Thrive On Big Cities, Director's first full release is quite impressive, featuring a few songs I've had on repeat for a few weeks now such as "Standing In My Way", my fav "Leave It To Me" and their single "Reconnect".
Right now, their MySpace page only has 13,000 friends, which is quite minimal compared to what I had expected. Director will be surely one of my favorite newfound groups this year, and one of the best of February. Although their album has only been released in the U.S. in Sept. of 2007, Director has been around in Ireland and the UK since 2006. And now it looks like they are back in the studio from their latest post (below).

From their December 24th post:
Hey folks,
Hope you all have a good Xmas. Just want to thank everyone for making 2007 a great year for us, for coming to the shows, listening to the music and everything else.
We will be starting 2008 in the studio, starting the sessions for the new record. Its shaping up very nicely indeed and it will be very interesting to get a few tracks down and see what direction the album will go. My prediction is .....fucking rock....
Have a good one
Cheers
Director
