If there's been one band I repeatedly hear over and over again, there's no doubt its the classic rock resounding Wolfmother trio. Since the release of their self-titled album Wolfmother in 2005, the band, whose seed had been planted by Modular Recordings in late 2004, has been dwindling since the beginning of this month. Now it has been officially announced by Wolfmother's label, Universal Records, that Heskett (drums) and Ross (bass, keyboard) had decided to leave the band due to irreconcilable differences.
Now that their most popular song,"Mother" has been introduced to the world of young musicians via Rock Band and Guitar Hero, their fan base will surely be waiting to see what's to come. Their "irreconcilable differences" plainly mean that the band's future plans on their upcoming album (planned to be released in 2009) was undergoing some artistic differences, and the band members would have preferred to go their own way. Leaving only vocalist Andrew Stockdale to decide where to go, the future of the band is up in the air. Stockdale states on the band's website that he plans on finding other musicians while circling back with producer Dave Sardy and the two departed members are working on a side project called Doom Buggy.
Whether Stockdale can pull it together on his own remains another question. With enough press on his side to gain a few new buddies to fill in for four new songs already played on the Andy Warhol Up Late program back in April, Stockdale may be able to pull it together in time to get the expected album underway in time for 2009. There's still time, right?
