Goldheart Assembly are a six-piece folksy band from London who's melodies and harmony are the crux of their composition. The band has already been dubbed 'the Fleet Foxes of the UK' by a few well-knowns, but if you ask me, they sound much more along the lines of Dr. Dog in terms of vocals and much less harmony as compared to our fellow friends, Fleet Foxes.
MP3: Goldheart Assembly - Wolves and Thieves (buy)
All nit-picking aside, the band's sound seems laden with more of a city-surrounding and less of a barren wintery field (such as FF). Their chemistry involves a nostalgic guitar sound, coupled with a gleeful surrounding cast of matching instruments tuned to their throwback era. Goldheart Assembly are an indie folk band who have successfully made themselves sound 40 years older, and that's the beauty of their music. As much as we love the pop rock that comes out of the UK, such as The Doves, Muse, Editors etc., there's no subsitution for the simplicity of a darn good folk song that makes you feel like you've turned the clocks back and discovered an unknown from years gone by.
Keep your eyes on these guys, there is greatness in store for them.
