Election day is upon us and we're just thinking about music. If you don't know who you are going to vote for by now, then hopefully it was MUF that had you occupied. We're not going to get political, we just want you to be in the know with who is releasing albums/vinyls today. I don't think Obama or McCain have anything releasing today.
This week's pick of groups to check out has a surprisingly natural appeal: Desolation Wilderness, Wild Beasts, The End of the World and , yes, Wilderness.
Desolation Wilderness, Washington's ambient musicians, bring an aged feel to their sound that plays to the tune of a 50s slow dance with White Light Strobing. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Shiny Toy Guns and Dragonette have taken their sounds to an excessive electro-pop level with Season of Poison and Galore.
Limbo, Panto from the Wild Beasts steer to an experimental alt sound that is well worth a listen. In a somewhat similar fashion, Future Clouds and Radar display their acoustic rock rhythm that appeals to multiple genres through Peoria.
For fans of Tenacious D and their comic-rock, The Complete Master Works 2 is out on DVD.
