We have been sifting through a ton of female vocals lately. Along with Blake Hazard from The Submarines, Jen Johnson from Static of the Gods has really peaked our interest. In the forefront of a trio of musicians based in Boston, Johnson's vocals certainly whet the pop-rock tempo that Mike Latulippe (drums) and Ben Voskerritchian (bass/guitar) provide.
The group's firm handle on poppy singing, marketable rock chords and highly professional recordings make for a must listen to for anyone who enjoys Rilo Kiley, Jimmy Eat World and The Pixies.
Static of the Gods just released their first single,"Peluche", in anticipation of their newest album, which is set to release this coming Fall. Their new album is being produced by Matthew Ellard (Radiohead, Weezer). They previously released Cycles Follow Signs in 2007 off of recordhead.
