Auburn Lull: Begin Civil Twilight

We have to sheepishly mention that we didn't include Auburn Lull in our list of releases this week. We dropped the ball, so we had to make up for it by devoting a full post just to them. They're just that good.

On first listen, Auburn Lull struck me as one of the most well put together experimental indie groups I've heard this year. It was instantaneous. Songs such as "Stanfield Echo" are so simply laid out, yet shimmering in their construction; perfect for any shoegaze dweller to step right through their door and fall head over heels.

Their most notable song from Begin Civil Twilight, released on April 8th of this month, is "Arc Of An Outsider". The beautiful ambience and echoey singing builds and builds over the course of the four-minute song into pure bliss. I can't recommend it enough, especially if you're someone who likes to wind down your day to some mellow, yet moving music.

Need some credentials? Alone I Admire, the band's 2001 release, scored a 9.0 for the picky staff over at Pitchfork. Pretty good, eh? You bet.
